This is a sample of the terrain texturing I have done. I looked at Satellite photos and photos taken by our track scanners. I was responsible for modeling and texturing the infield and outside. The infield alone consistes of 10 tiles at 1024 x 1024.

Here is a closer look showing the small details that make it look more realistic. There are grease stains, tire marks, dirt, and worn grass, just to name a few.

A shot from the other side showing more details. I really enjoy painting in all the details the help make each track unique. All of those painted lines, stains, and difference in asphalts are all accurate to the reference.

This is an animation showing all of the layers and the process that goes into making these terrain tiles. The tile is clearly visible in the first picture on this page. The dark rectangles on the texture are shadows of the buildings and objects. I added them to help blend the transition from the ground to the track-side objects. Also note that some of the details changed from the satellite photo to the final texture. This is due to the fact that tracks change over time and I made the details match the most current photo reference we shot.
